Slavery is unlawful in most cities, but common practice in others. The price of a slave is listed here for reference purposes, and it should be noted that good aligned characters should not participate in slave ownership, unless it is an accepted practice in their home town. Even then they should treat their slaves with respect, compassion, and be willing to allow the slave to earn their freedom. Note that Chaotic Good heroes value freedom to much to ever own a slave, and ownership of slaves is an action that can cause a change in alignment.
